Monday Moments Of Me #79

Everyone, this is it. This is the tree where my 2 day journey began :)
When my husband and I bought our home in July this year, the previous owners left this hummingbird feeder in one of the trees in the backyard.
My grandma always had a hummingbird feeder hanging near her side entrance door and in fact looked almost exactly like this one. So, I instantly felt a 'connection' with this feeder as weird as it sounds and vowed to myself that I will always welcome hummingbirds by keeping the feeder full. When I see a hummingbird, I feel like my grandma is making her presence known. Showing me she is watching over me, giving me her love, saying hello and a big hug!
I know the 'red stuff' is controversial so I will be doing my research to get healthy, natural nectar but I just had to start with something! I picked up this nectar at my local True Value store.

What journey you ask? My journey of catching the amazingly astoundingly beautiful hummingbirds coming in for a landing (aka: drink) :)

For 2 days I would sit outside on my back porch twice daily for about 30 minutes half hidden behind a pillar in my 'bird watching' chair with camera in my hand ready! Yes, I may have looked crazy.

Day one was a FAIL. No hummingbird sightings but I did spot a baby lizard.
Do you see the baby lizard? LOL. I promise you he/she is there ;) About center in the photo on the left branch.
As exciting as this was, he/she is no hummingbird...

Day 2 got a little more exciting though...
Although this bird came and went within seconds he/she was so fast that I could not even get a single photo that was in focus. He/she is kind of 'camouflaged' in the middle of the frame. Can you spot the bird? It is behind the in focus leaf. LOL.

Then...on my second sitting outside on the second day...

I CAN NOT tell you how excited I was when this beauty graced me with his/her presence. After I was able to take a few photos the hummingbird was gone. Until next time :)
I ran inside with a HUGE smile and told my husband "I got one." He was just as excited as I was and wanted to see the images!!!

Next time I will make sure my 'bird watching chair' is closer so I can get some better up close shots of the adorableness!
