Monday Moments Of Me
About October of 2013, my good friend showed me a charm bracelet she got. She told me she got it because as she builds the bracelet each and every single charm has such a special meaning to her. So she can have a wrist full of memories with her and to look at and reminisce about. I loved this idea! She took it of her wrist and handed it to me. As I was admiring it I instantly knew I wanted to start my very own! The feeling that overwhelmed me was warm, loving, kind and relaxing. As I sat there in almost tears, yes tears. Seriously. Over a bracelet, how is this possible right?! I knew what was making me feel this way and why I had such a strong urge to want to start my own. My Grandma. My grandma, who there is never a day that goes by that I do not think about has had such an impact on my life. I love her to pieces. Although she has been gone for many years she still touches my heart in many special ways. One thing I remember most about her was her charm bracelet. I can still to this day remember what it looked like full of gold charms she gathered as she traveled the world. I remember as a little girl I would admire each charm and notice all the intricate fine details. The thing I remember most though...the sound it made. The sound of the charms clinking against one another is what made all of these thoughts and emotions flood my mind when I was adorning over my friends charm bracelet. When I remember/hear that sound, I can see my grandmas wrist with the bracelet on, I can see her hand and her wedding ring, I can hear her voice, I can hear her laugh, I can see her infectious smile and I can see her well known statement "blue eye shadow." To be able to have all those very vivid memories on my own wrist and remember her just by hearing my own charm bracelet "clink" I could not wait to start my bracelet.
My friend bought me the bracelet and a few charms for my birthday to get me started on my path of building a bracelet with so many memories attached.
To start this off, I will feature the charms that represents my grandma, the inspiration to this journey.
"Apple Of My Eye"
My grandma was a very well respected artist, librarian and a school teacher for many years so an apple totally fits. I can still remember the mural she painted on the library walls of the elementary school where she taught. I even have a photo of me in front of it but I will spare you seeing me as a child and hold off on posting that photo! This mural was incredibly fascinating, so much detail and energy put into it.
She would always say "apple of my eye" so even the name of the charm is spot on :)
"Apple of my eye" was always said with a wink and a giggle too. I loved her phrases.
The golden stem on top of the apple adds just "that much more" to make it beautiful, something my grandma would always do as well, she would always "go the extra mile" so to speak.

"Purple Morning Butterfly Dangle"
My grandma loved butterflies, hummingbirds and ducks. She would always stop and admire their beauty with such respect. I loved helping her prepare the hummingbird feeder and watching the hummingbirds come rest and drink the nectar we had prepared together for them.
She had a guest bedroom decorated very elegantly with ducks. Whenever I would spend the night with her I always asked if I could stay in the "duck room."
When vacationing with my grandma she would always make it fun and entertaining by saying the first person to spot fauna gets a dollar! She was always making learning and observing enjoyable, which I am sure is what made her such a great teacher and librarian.
