About 2 years ago my husband and I decided we were tired of the same scents in department stores that we have smelled for years. They had all begun to smell the same as one another. So we went to Barney's thinking that they would have something different than most department stores... and oh my did we find some. Parfum's scent lasts longer than Eau De Toilette on the skin because it has more oil. We left undecided upon which to purchase but did have a couple samples.
Fragrance can be a difficult category to cover, because smell is so deeply linked to personal preference, memories and associations. Isn't that the great part though?! It is personal and can be so special in one way or one person but not the next person...something to think about :)
We were in Las Vegas shortly after starting the hunt for parfum and guess what we saw?!
A Tom Ford Shop inside The Shops At Crystals. I have a pair of amazing Tom Ford sunglasses so I was eyeing the shop as we walked by and all the way in the back of the shop with a straight line of view from the front door was a very elaborate 3 tiered parfum display. I stopped dead in my tracks and pulled my hubby back and we went in! We spent awhile smelling each scent with coffee beans nearby with the help of an awesome salesman who had such a distinct personality and french accent that it made the whole experience so much better :)
We left with Tom Ford Tabacco Vanille. It is the one that both my husband and I got giddy about. It is such a creamy fragrance that hit home with me that makes me want to curl up on the couch with a good book!
Top notes (what hits ya first!) are tabacco leaf and aromatic spice... middle note (the heart) is creamy tonka bean, tobacco flower, cocoa and vanilla... base notes (what lasts) is a dried fruit accord and wood sap. Oh! You guys! It is so amazing. We also knew it would be a great base to layer other parfum's on top of.
You may be thinking we are crazy right? Hey! This is serious business haha The amazing thing about parfum is that many are universal, for men and women.
So, my friends, this is where the parfum obsession began.
Keep an eye out for more posts about my obsession with PARFUM!
